Sr. Chemist/Technical Service representative - is a key position within our R&D department serves as a cornerstone for both technical innovation and customer collaboration. The role is designed to provide our clients with comprehensive support and expert guidance in the formulation of solvent-based and water-based paints.

About the job:

  • The Senior Technical Service Chemist will interface with customers, sales, application testing, procurement, and product development.
  • Provide technical support to existing and prospective customers regarding Polynt resins for coatings.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions to customers who are experiencing issues with using Polynt resins in their paint formulation.
  • Provide performance data in support of product promotions to customers and educate the coatings industry regarding new product introductions.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of customer needs and recommend future development projects to meet their needs. 
  • Integral member of the product developmental team ensuring customer needs are understood and communicated.   
  • Generation of technical reports, invention disclosures, presentations, and product literature.
  • Up to 25% travel to support customers is possible. 

Requirements:

  • BS in chemistry with a minimum of 7 plus years of solvent-based and water-based paint formulation experience.
  • Knowledge of paint formulation techniques covering multiple coatings application areas including both architectural and industrial markets. 
  • Familiar with various equipment and techniques for applying coatings.
  • Experience as a paint formulator at coatings / paint manufacturer is required.
  • Proven track record with commercializing new products.
  • Strong customer interaction skills.
  • Proven record of innovative thinking and technical accomplishments.
  • Root cause analysis and corrective action techniques are a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.Efficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Location:

Carpentersville, IL. On-site position with up to 25% travel.
