The Production Manager reports directly to the Site Manager and is responsible for developing, implementing, and measuring processes and activities related to operational optimization, manufacturing cost reduction, and quality improvements while meeting all safety and environmental requirements. The continuous development of the production employees through empowerment and accountability implementation of best practices in order to assure the desired level of plant productivity, process improvements, safety and reliability to meet all customer requirements; proposing yearly production plans (i.e. volume, costs, etc.) for approval and implementing those plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Production Manager will be expected to maintain in place and/or ensure we have proper processes, systems, tools, and technology to improve and maintain the site’s production operations and to work closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure the safe operation and reliability of the plant equipment. Oversee process to ensure production procedures are accurate, regularly reviewed and kept up to date.
  • Additional responsibilities include ensuring proper rotation of RM/FG stock, blocked stock and usage of line flush stock.
  • The Production Manager will work closely with the shift supervisors to provide direction on implementation of manufacturing best practice initiatives, oversight of daily and weekly priorities, and personnel development.  The Production Manager will establish daily and weekly priorities to be accomplished, reviewing production to determine ways to optimize both personnel and equipment, as well as working with the supervisors on the actual implementation of best practices such as the double-check and flush procedures.
  • The Production Manager is expected to foster an environment where open communication and feedback is valued between operators, supervisors and management. In addition, the Production Manager fulfills the role of critical liaison between Operations and Maintenance to address equipment/maintenance concerns and develop corresponding action plans to address.
  • Manages production with a results-driven sense of urgency inside a framework focused on safety, quality and continuous improvement to meet customer demand and company goals. Develops a culture which minimizes risks throughout the area and ensures compliance with regulations, policies and procedures. Sets, monitors and uses the area KPI’s to drive efficiencies and value throughout the organization.
  • Collaborating closely with the EHS Manager, the Production Manager will be a leader and role model for plant safety, hazard awareness, hazard elimination and environmental compliance. 
  • The Production Manager will work closely with the plant scheduler and S/R departments to maintain high levels of quality and service to our customers.
  • Perform other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

  • B. S. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 10 or more years of experience in the chemical industry; resin manufacturing preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical process operations, EHS regulations
  • Experience with financial analysis, budget preparation and administration
  • Demonstrated success in leading continuous improvement in a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong team player, independent worker requiring minimal day-to-day direction or oversight.
  • SAP experience is preferred
