Key Responsibilities:

  • Instrument/control loop trouble-shooting, repair, calibration/tuning of instrumentation, installation/maintenance of all plant electrical equipment. This equipment includes pumps, large top mounted agitators, fans, blowers, vessels, filters, piping systems, and insulation. Complete work orders, preventative maintenance work orders, electrical check lists, and maintain equipment files in the plant
  • Frequent inspections, repair and replacement of electrical components. Installation and modification of existing and new piping systems/lines, including vessels, filters (cartridge, bag and press types), and equipment setting and alignment.
  • Learning the proper methods for equipment and safety inspections. Inspection of equipment for defects and recording all repairs made to specific equipment.
  • Assisting with plant operations when necessary and responding to call-outs during off shifts to meet plant operation needs.
  • Minor structural, construction, painting, concrete, insulation and light sheet metal work, etc.
  • Completion of proper documentation sections of maintenance work orders in SAP.
  • Actively participating in near miss reporting, incident investigations, and safety/housekeep audits. Writing internal corrective action request when a problem relating to safety, quality or cost is identified.
  • Becoming familiar with the relevant maintenance department plant standard operating procedures (SOP’s) learning the plant processes and the hazards associated. Being safety conscious and following the plant safety policies and procedures (e.g. fall procedures, confined space, hot work). Becoming familiar with the proper PPE task requirements. Learning the technician’s role in the plant emergency response plan.
  • Participating in equipment evaluations, modifications and selection process. Typical dollar values associated with the decisions associated with these activities would range from several dollars to thousands of dollars.
  • Trouble-shoot, repair, install, and maintain all electrical equipment in a plant that operates on a 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, 365 days’/year schedule.
  • Availability to assume a rotating “on-call” status
  • Other duties, projects and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

A High School diploma or equivalent. Additional coursework, technical training, apprenticeship, college, etc. is highly desirable. Minimum of 3-5 years’ previous instrument/electrical maintenance and/or construction experience performing equipment troubleshooting, repair in the chemical or related industries. Be able to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and diagrams, manufacturer's literature, and written instructions, especially of new equipment. Perform basic mathematical calculations and use and interpret formulas. Computer literate and able to work in a Windows and SAP environment.
